THE East Riding's most fabulous fashionistas are being encouraged to swap frocks at the region's first major swish event.
Guests will get to offload those dresses, jeans and shoes gathering dust at the bottom of the wardrobe - and swap them for clothes they want.
The swapping event will take place at the Barn House, Walkington on Thursday, December 3.
Proceeds will go towards Dove House Hospice, which provides care for people with life limiting illnesses, such as cancer.
Guests are encouraged to take along between one and three items of quality clothing, either designer labels or from the top end of the high IWC Replica street, that they are willing to exchange.
The idea is that everyone leaves with something gorgeous to wear for the Christmas party season.
Tiffany NecklaceIt is being organised by Rebecca Aspin, 30, a PR consultant, of Beverley, and Lucy Oates-Dibnah, 33, a freelance journalist and communications consultant of Howden.
Ms Aspin said swishing has become a big trend. She said: "It's really ethical as it's all about recycling clothing by passing items that you love but no longer wear.
"Swishing events have really taken off in London and other major cities around the UK, so we thought that it was about time that we introduced the idea to the East Riding."
Ms Oates-Dibnah said the event was a perfect way to stay trendy during the credit crunch.
She said: "We've all got items at the back of our wardrobes that no longer fit us or that were expensive mistakes.
"If you have a designer dress or lovely pair of shoes that you can't bear to stick in a charity bag, then this is the ideal way to put them to good use.
"It's the perfect antidote to the trend for throwaway fashion and is ideal for these credit crunch times, when you want something new to wear for a Christmas party but can't afford to splash out on a whole new outfit."
Tickets for the event are priced at Pounds 12.50 and are available from the Barn House Cafe in Walkington. They can also be obtained by contacting Lucy Oates by emailing Lucy at or calling 07968 277218.
